Our Indian law experience is broad and versatile – we’ve worked on both sides of issues, representing both Native and non-Native clients in Native communities and elsewhere for more than 20 years. We are licensed and have practiced before 9 tribal courts in Arizona, as well as myriad tribal courts in Oklahoma.
Some of our experience includes:
- Defending tribal gaming entities in personal injury matters;
- Defending tribal officials in employment litigation;
- Asserting and defending sovereign immunity of tribal officers and entities in various litigation;
- Representing Native employers on application of tribal and federal employment laws;
- Defend Native employers against employment-based claims before various administrative agencies, such as TEROs and the EEOC, and in tribal court;
- Defending tribal police officers in a catastrophic injury matter;
- Representing tribal council members and the tribal vice-chairman in an election dispute;
- Serving as general counsel to Native public, grant, and charter schools;
- Representing tribal schools in employment litigation filed by employees and former employees before tribal employment agencies and in tribal courts;
- Advocating before Congress and various tribal councils on behalf of Native clients on funding and other issues;
- Defending non-Native businesses in wrongful death matters in tribal court; and
- Representing insurance carriers and their insured in personal injury and other matters in various tribal courts.
